Bosnian Pair Dzeko And Misimovic Will Spend Next Season With Die Wolfe.

Wolfsburg have announced their intentions of holding onto Bosnian duo Edin Dzeko and Zvejzdan Misimovic this summer. The pair have coem under intense transfer speculation all summer, and it was thought that deals had been agreed for the pair to complete mega-money moves out of Germany.

The club’s managing director, Dieter Hoeness, has declared that the Bosnian pair who have been central to success for Die Wolfe will not be moving on this summer.

We have decided to end the recurring speculation: both Edin Dzeko and Zvjezdan Misimovic will be staying at Wolfsburg, no matter what offers come in for them. We did not want this speculation to become endless as we move closer to the start of the season. It made no sense to continue going around in circles. Now everybody can concentrate on the new season. Furthermore, both players have clear contracts which don’t leave any room for misinterpretation. There was not a single offer for either of them anyway so this discussion was only virtual.”

Steve McClaren has been ringing in the changes with Die Wolfe this summer, but declared in his first ever press conference with Wolfsburg that he would ‘fight tooth and nail’ to keep Dzeko at the club this summer. So far so good for McClaren, who looks to be making a promising start to his Bundesliga career.

Dzeko has made 94 league appearances for Wolfsburg and has banged in 54 goals. Misimovic, who was a Bayern Munich player for a very short time, has made 54 league appearances with Die Wolfe and has scored 14 goals. Misimovic also acts as the playmaker in the side, and has been instrumental in creating the chances that Dzeko so wonderfully finishes.

If Wolfsburg do end up holding onto their Bosnian duo and continue to add quality to the squad as they have been doing so far this summer, then a push for a European spot could be very achievable for Die Wolfe this season. Steve McClaren will certainly push for Bundesliga glory after experiencing championship success with FC Twente last season.

Dzeko is not happy at all about the denial. He said he didn’t know how to deal with it pyschologically, how his game would change as result.

I say it is bad example to be keeping players against their will. The word gets out of how Dzeko situation has been handled then players would think twice before singning for Wolfs.
