Good to see you back DP. But it’s the next 4 matches that will demonstrate whether Schalke should be taken seriously (of course, they are Schalke so there’s some question as to whether they should *ever* be taken seriously). But, Stuttgart, HSV, Bayer 04 and Bayern 4 weeks in a row..they don’t get a whole lot tougher than that.

From my point of view, we’re not going to see a whole lot of changes in the top of the table over that period of time. Bayern will also play Leverkusen in that space. After that, the schedule for Bayern is *really* soft, even softer than it is for Schalke who still have to play Bremen. Even if Bayern had figured out who their starting 11 were in fall, it would have been a tough go because their schedule has been so front loaded with good teams.

DP, would you mind updating that UEFA ranking after the EL matches tomorrow? If Inter and Juve falter Germany are through!

It would be great for the neutral I think if Bayern go a second year without winning the title. There are a few potential powerhouses in the Bundesliga, it would be good to see them share the spoils a bit more.

I think if Bayern don’t win the title it will be because they have a weak spine. I think they should cash in on Ribery, bring Kroos back from Leverkusen, and look to bring in a solid central midfielder (Van Bommel’s legs are going) and a decent centre back. An international class full-back would also come in handy.

If Schalke win the title it would be a phenomenal achievement. Magath is a truly excellent manager. If he can add European success to domestic he’ll be on the path to greatness
